(01) Montana Toy Company
World famous stick horses handcrafted in the American West. It’s the best Made in USA stick horse money can buy.
Adored by children of the 1800s and again today, Montana Toy Company’s selection of premium wooden horse stick toys are like a Western fable brought back to life.
“Save a horse — ride a wooden stick prairie pony with a fuzzy head.” It’s a Western plaything for toy little cowboys and cowgirls to go giddy-up!

(02) D and ME Wood Toys
A famous Montana handmade wooden toy company — D and ME have been in production since 1976 — following the company’s long-held tradition of child safety and creative playability!
Sourcing renewable domestic hardwoods — maple, oak, walnut, alder, cherry, and birch — their Stevensville, MT toy shop creates only original designs for all their toys. For timeless toys, look no further than D and ME — then find push-and-pull toys a-plenty — trucks, tractors, and trains!
(03) Rick’s Wood Toys
Historically accurate and “modernfully minimalistic” at the same time — Rick’s Wood Toys are some very special toys. Made from top quality wood — poplar, maple, cherry, or walnut — crafted to the delight of wooden toy connoisseurs young and old. Rick’s is proof that wooden magic happens in Montana.
(04) Marilou Creations
Children’s wooden animal and train push toys, made of natural pine wood and finished with AP-certified non-toxic paint — I especially adore their “Mama & Baby” sets featuring duck and duckling or long-neck and short-neck giraffe!
Marilou Creations is founded by a local Troy, MT husband and wife duo with a woodshop and a sawmill — whose entire life revolves around wood!

A Montana Toy Making Time Capsule
- Handmade Montana Shop — Before the shop’s close prior to 2025, the Handmade Montana Shop fashioned a rare find in the world of wooden play toys — the classic buggy is making its comeback. Seemingly antique, but actually handmade brand new — the iconic wooden buggy toy was made of fine pine wood, glue, and oodles of love — an heirloom quality buggy toy to be passed down to the next generation.
- Sacred Nature Toys — During the two years between 2020 and 2022, Sacred Nature Toys traveled from the island of Guam to lay down roots in Bitterroot Valley, MT. Focused on Montessori-inspired toys like stackers and play sets — the brand aimed to connect children to nature — probably derived from dissatisfaction seeing the contrast between Guam kids’ connection to nature with American kids’ connection to screen devices.
