(01) Learning Safari
Age-appropriate for preschool children, Learning Safari curates bright and beautiful sensory bin activities and loose parts — mostly with plastic parts, but some wooden trays and pieces are available — brought to you by a local Green River, WY nursing and childcare development professional.
Integrating lessons from Montessori, Reggio, and Waldorf into tutti frutti sensory bin activities — the Learning Safari brand is Wyoming’s most thoughtfully curated pretend play kits for children — foremost for fine motor skills by individual children, and inspiring social skills when shared in a group setting.
(02) Sweet Tea & Glaciers
Sweet Tea & Glaciers is a peg doll painter focused on multicultural diversity. Wyoming isn’t necessarily a state known for diversity — and so this hand-painted peg doll shop is unusual in this regard.
Aside from Asian, African, and Middle Eastern themed pegs — they also covered quirky pop-culture — plus classic rainbow pegs. Sweet Tea & Glaciers shares positive vibes from Bar Nunn, WY with each hand-painted doll. (The shop is currently closed, but the owner welcomes custom peg orders.)

A Wyoming Toy Making Time Capsule
- Black & Yellow Made — Until some time before 2025, Black & Yellow Made an ultra-innovative wooden rolling toy — from Gillette, WY — made in small batches out of birch plywood finished with natural beeswax and orange oil. Its large animal collection included mechanical parts that moved like magic!
- Ei Design / The 5th Design Element — From 2020 to 2022, Ei Design (later renamed to The 5th Design Element) sold freestanding wooden puzzles as simple as could be — for tinkering and assembly of adorable animal shapes. Made of white wood and finished with food-grade mineral oil, this Cheyenne, WY toy maker’s puzzle collection was as simple and straightforward as could be.
- Rockin’ JL — From 2014 until 2020, Cody, Rockin’ JL was a rare find in today’s globalized world of manufacturing. Based in Cody, WY their all-natural wooden building shapes — kept the uneven cylindrical shape of fresh-cut branches and logs. They sourced juniper wood and maintained the tree branches’ original shape — unpainted so that red hued wood grains remained. They were 100% organic toys — meant for kids to experience materials as imperfect as natural.
