(01) Amish Toy Box
Handmade wooden toys from Ohio’s Amish country. Amish Toy Box items are honest and well-made — albeit a little on the pricey side. Straight out of Caldwell, OH — everything from wooden blocks, to zooming race tracks, to large-scale semi trucks, to ride-on toys.
Whether they go by the name Lapp’s Toys, Dutch Crafters, Amish Made Store, or Amish Toy Box — I’m fairly certain — they’re all from legitimate Amish woodcrafters in either Pennsylvania or Ohio — and they’ve got you covered.

(02) Happy Bungalow
Think up a North American wild animal. I’ll bet you — Happy Bungalow whittles it in wood! Based in Cincinnati, OH — they’ve got an amazing selection of minimal wood figurines that your kids can play with as dolls or blocks — each toy cut by hand, sanded silky smooth, and finished with love.
Tinkering in a wood shop for nearly 15 years — their minds wandered into wooden magic wands, pirate toys, robots, and sasquatch — be very afraid! Happy Bungalow is an authentic favorite wooden toy brand from The Buckeye State!

(03) Berlin Flyer Wagons
Berlin Flyer Wagons are classic and Amish-made — a suitable size for children and toddlers — albeit less ergonomic than a plastic Lil Tikes.
Handcrafted in Millersburg, OH from locally sourced hardwoods and steel — these four-wheelers feature a solid wood bed, removable side rails painted in eight color options, and a powder-coated steel frame — because the Amish know best. The wheels have solid rubber tires, and the whole thing holds up to 250 pounds.

(04) Puzzimals
Having made peculiar self-standing wooden puzzles in Farmington, OH for nearly 20 years — Puzzimals is one of my favorite Buckeye-owned wood toymakers. Inspired by animals and nature — some puzzles are painted in earthy colors — others are left unhindered in natural wood tones.
Their natural tree freestanding wooden puzzles are as intricate as they are challenging to piece together — like a bonzai brain teaser. Puzzimals cuts full-letter pieces insothat the spelled name of the object is your guide to piecing the puzzle together.
(05) The Original Branch
Natural wooden puzzles, bar games, and brainteasers — handmade from reclaimed wood in Uhrichsville, OH for over 10 years. For puzzles you can probably figure out — in various shades of wood from dark to light — The Original Branch is a welcome maker.
See The Original Branch on Etsy.
(05) Possum Products
Ohio’s classic wooden toy maker who — with honesty — doesn’t claim Amish heritage — and that’s fine for most Ohioans. No metal parts, food-grade glue, Midwest Americana for all.
Proudly made in Newcomerstown, OH by an overalls-wearing master woodworker — these quality-crafted wooden vehicle toys look good enough to be displayed on the mantle, but are built to be played with as toys.

(06) 948 Woodworks
Simple handmade wooden push toy vehicles from Niles, OH — cars, trucks, busses, and planes — are just the start fine for 948 Woodworks heirlooms that last.
What’s large and in charge and demands your attention are their model fire truck and lorry truck — with smooth-rolling wheels, removable ladders, and more moving parts — every opposable detail is ready for action.
An Ohio Wooden Toy Time Capsule
- Old Barn Toys — Until the year 2022, Old Barn Toys was a modern day maker of medieval style wooden toy swords, daggers, and axes. For your child to reenact the adventure and chivalry of the Middle Ages, this Bartlett, OH small town wood shop had an axe to grind!
- Cambridge Wooden Toy Co. — Creating classic wooden toys in Southeast Ohio for over 50 years — and later transformed into a local museum and tourist attraction. Today, Cambridge Wooden Toy Co. remains a pride of Ohio’s toy making tradition.
